Plot summary
André Luiz is a prominent but selfish physician and father of three. After a long battle with cancer, he dies and wakes in a valley of devastation rather than the heaven he expected. He lives there as a castaway among spirits deemed suicides, dodging vampire spirits that attack at night. He cannot understand his fate. One day a beam of light descends and rescues spirits trapped in the valley's troughs. André is lifted to Nosso Lar, a spiritual city of harmony where residents work for humanity's good and await reincarnation. He finds new friends and allies, yet he must prove he still values life by earning merits through humble labor.
