Plot summary

In 2018, John Chau, an American Christian missionary, traveled to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He wanted to make contact with the Sentinelese, an indigenous people who live in isolation on North Sentinel Island and are legally protected. He bribed fishermen to carry him there. The documentary follows his life and his journey to that attempt, drawing on archival footage and on interviews with Levi Davis, a fellow student of Chau, the historian Adam Goodheart, the anthropologist Triloknath Pandit and Daniel Everett, a professor and former missionary.
