Plot summary
Two Roman legions are stranded in Armenia's snowy mountains, ringed by Parthian patrols and weakened by cold and hunger. The main Roman army stationed in Syria would take two weeks to reach them on foot, and enemy fighters control the mountain approaches. Noreno, a half-Roman soldier with a deep dislike of Rome, is selected to make the dangerous crossing and bring back reinforcements.
