The King (2005) on Netflix

Plot summary

Discharged from the U.S. Navy, Elvis Valderez buys a used car and drives to Corpus Christi, Texas. He watches Pastor David Sandow preach, then follows the family to their home, where he brings out a photograph of his mother, Yolanda. The pastor, who knew her years before he became a Christian, grows agitated and says he has a family now and a place in the community. He tells his wife Twyla and his children, Paul and Malerie, that the young man only wanted to join the church and that they should keep away from him. Elvis takes a motel room and a job delivering pizzas, and after meeting Malerie at the church he begins collecting her from school for drives and walks in a park. Paul campaigns at his high school to replace evolution with intelligent design.
