Plot summary
Elizabeth Holmes founds Theranos around a promise to transform blood testing with a compact technology. She becomes the world's youngest self-made billionaire and is compared to Steve Jobs. She attracts wealthy investors and assembles a board of well-connected public figures. The company names its miniature blood-testing devices Edisons, after Thomas Edison, and sets up wellness centers in Arizona. Holmes and her COO promote the company's value while medical experts question whether the technology works.
