Plot summary
On the night of Boston's mayoral election, incumbent mayor Joseph Miccelli is hosting a celebration at the Wharf, where he expects a flood of cash bribes, and challenger Mark Choi is on the ballot. Mobsters Besegai and Dechico mean to take the money before an armored car collects it, so they enlist their underling Scalvo plus two recruits: Rory, a divorced Marine veteran, and Cobby Murphy, an alcoholic ex-con whose bartender, Mr. Kelly, warns him not to go back to his criminal ways. Rory insists on a share of exactly $32,480 and tries to explain his reasons to his therapist, Dr. Rivera.
