Plot summary
Xiri and Xisa, Xixo's son and daughter, climb into the water tank of a truck driven by two elephant poachers and are carried away across the land where their tribe lives. Xixo sets out on foot after them. Ann Taylor, a lawyer from New York, travels to a bush resort to speak at a legal conference and takes a ride in a small two-seat aircraft with Stephen Marshall, a scientist summoned to the resort to treat a wounded animal. Bad weather brings the plane down in the Kalahari. A Cuban soldier, Mateo, and an Angolan soldier keep trying to capture one another.
