Plot summary
Steve Karnes lectures a British scientific society on what nuclear tests do to life in the sea; Professor James Bickford leads the group. Before Karnes can fly back to the United States, a fisherman at Looe in Cornwall is burned on the beach, and the word he leaves behind is behemoth. Dead fish by the thousand come ashore, and the local boats stay in. Karnes and Bickford go to Cornwall. There the village doctor describes the burns on the fisherman, while John, who found him, carries a matching burn on his hand from a pulsating mass on the shore. Instruments find no radiation.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Giant Behemoth (1959)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Stock screams used in Willis O'Brien's King Kong can be heard in the scenes where the creature attacks the ferry and when it invades London, an odd link between O'Brien and his most famous creation.
- The script began as a story about an amorphous blob of radiation but was changed at the distributor's insistence toward the style of The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953); traces of the original idea survive in the film's early scenes and the monster's nuclear-breathing power.
- The British Board of Film Censors gave the original 71-minute version, titled The Giant Behemoth, an X certificate on 9 January 1959; four days later a version cut to 69 minutes, as Behemoth the Sea Monster, was given an A certificate.
