Plot summary

Ali Aksu, a retired widower, lives in Bremen. Yeter Öztürk works there as a prostitute and receives threats from two Turkish Muslims over her trade. Ali offers her a monthly sum to stop and move into his home, and she accepts. His son Nejat, a professor of German literature, disapproves. Nejat learns that Yeter tells her daughter in Turkey that she sells shoes, mailing footwear to keep the story, and that she hopes the girl can get an education.
