Plot summary
At a campus party, Joanne Murray and her boyfriend Tim learn that Morgan Meadows Hall, their dormitory, has been condemned. Joanne and her friends Brian, Patty, Craig and Debbie agree to spend the Christmas holiday emptying the building before it is demolished. Tim goes away on a skiing trip the next day, and Debbie says her parents are collecting her later that day, so she cannot stay. Patty notices a vagrant, John Hemmit, at the campus dump site, and Bill Edgar, the caretaker, reports that a drill has gone missing. Joanne also meets Bobby Lee Tremble, a salesman buying tables from the dorm. That evening, as the friends play pool, Patty sees John watching them through a window, and a search of the building finds no sign of him.

- The film was deemed a 'video nasty' in the UK, a decision directors Jeffrey Obrow and Stephen Carpenter attributed to its graphic drill murder and cover art showing a spiked baseball bat. It was removed from the list and re-released on video in 1992 with ten seconds of cuts.
- To avoid an X rating, the film was cut heavily by the MPAA in the US and the BBFC in the UK. The killing of Debbie's father, played by Richard Cowgill, with the spiked baseball bat was trimmed to one or two blows, and the drilling of maintenance man Bill Edgar, played by Jake Jones, was removed entirely.
- Unable to afford a casting director, Jeffrey Obrow and Stephen Carpenter cast the film themselves, and the on-screen casting credit 'Wesley Lou David' is an amalgam of the directors' and producers' middle names.
- To raise the money for the film, Jeffrey Obrow and Stephen Carpenter shot footage for a promotional trailer in advance so they could pitch the project to investors.
