Plot summary
For a school project, Matt and Owen are shooting a movie in which two picked-on students get their revenge on the gang of bullies who torment them. Matt is bullied himself, and when he asks other students and the faculty what someone in that position should do, their answers suggest that getting help is harder than the adults believe. Matt has Owen try to act cool around Chrissy, a popular girl who had a crush on him in grade three. When the rough cut reaches their film teacher, Mr. Muldoon, it contains scenes in which the two shoot other students, and Muldoon demands the film be changed.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Dirties (2013)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The Dirties was made for a production budget of just $10,000, but after production another $45,000 was needed to secure the licensing rights for the music used in the film, and all of the financing came out of pocket.
- The Dirties was shot with almost no scripted dialogue, and some scenes were filmed without all the participants knowing. The school's real students were told only that a movie was being made, not its plot, and the cast and crew posed as students enrolled at those schools to avoid blowing their cover.
