Plot summary
Late at night, Dick Long is badly injured while he is out with his friends Zeke and Earl. The two leave his limp body in a hospital parking lot and drive off. Earl goes home and tells his girlfriend Lake that a family emergency will take him out of town, but he still shows up for his warehouse shift. Zeke slips into bed beside his wife Lydia, who thinks he slept there all night. In the morning he drives their daughter Cynthia to school and finds the back seat covered in blood. At the hospital, a doctor named Richter calls the police about Dick's injuries. At a gas station, Cynthia tells Officer Dudley about Dick's wallet, and blood from the seat has soaked into her dress.
