Plot summary
Timothy "Speed" Levitch gives tours of Manhattan from a New York City double-decker bus. He talks fast and mixes the city's past with jokes, personal memories and philosophical asides. He loves the work, says he got into it to meet women, and would quit if he could. His life away from the bus arrives in small doses: his pay is $200 a week for 20 hours of work, he lives out of a suitcase and sleeps wherever he can, and he has been arrested for climbing onto skyscraper rooftops to look at his city. At the World Trade Center he spins until he is dizzy, then looks up.

- The film was in production three and a half years: Miller shot about 77 hours of Hi8 footage with another cameraperson, discarded it as untrue to his subject, then resumed the next summer shooting alone with a Sony VX-1000 MiniDV camera and a lavalier microphone on Levitch.
