Plot summary
Shelly, a musician with an addiction, receives a video from her friend Zadie that ties Vincent Roeg, a crime lord who passes as a musical aristocrat, to a crime. She keeps it and goes into hiding, and Roeg's men chase her until police arrest her on a drug charge and send her to a rehabilitation center. There she meets Eric, an addict troubled by nightmares. The two grow close. Marion, who works for Roeg, appears at the institution, and Shelly panics and asks Eric to help her get away. They hide in an empty house belonging to one of her friends and fall in love. Roeg's men find them and kill them both. Eric wakes in a rail yard that resembles purgatory, where a spirit named Kronos tells him he must kill Roeg to be with Shelly again.

- To avoid a repeat of the 1994 film's shooting incident and the then-recent accident on Rust, director Rupert Sanders told his Prague special effects crew and armorer on the first day that no firing weapons would be used on his set; the film used airsoft guns, and the limited visual effects budget paid for added muzzle flash and smoke.
- The 2024 Crow spent years cycling through directors and leads: Stephen Norrington, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, F. Javier Gutiérrez and Corin Hardy were each signed to direct, while Bradley Cooper, Luke Evans, Jack Huston and Jason Momoa were each cast as Eric at various points in development.
- James McAvoy and Tom Hiddleston were early contenders to play Eric Draven, and Hiddleston did his own makeup test in April 2013 after meeting the project's producers.
- Days after Juan Carlos Fresnadillo was hired to direct, Harvey Weinstein and Bob Weinstein sued Relativity Media, claiming it breached a 2009 contract by shopping the film to other distributors and that their studio, The Weinstein Company, held the remake's worldwide distribution rights.
- In July 2015 Relativity Media filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy; pre-production stopped and several heads of production left the film, but the studio still called The Crow a top priority and rejected offers from other studios to buy the franchise's rights.
- To make Eric feel like a normal guy who had never taken a martial arts class, director Rupert Sanders and stunt coordinator Adam Horton designed brawly, scrappy action sequences.
- Bill Skarsgård's preparation for Eric included a pound of steak tartare daily; he came straight from shooting Boy Kills World and worked four months with almost no days off, even filming a scene covered in black syrup on the last night.
