Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Champion of Auschwitz (2020)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The Champion was the first film to have a foreign-language version made by modifying the actors' facial movements so that they appear to be speaking that language. The English version used deepfake-like technology from the Tel Aviv startup Adapt Entertainment.
- Adapt Entertainment's software, Plato, uses AI to make actors appear to be speaking another language. It bought the English-language rights to The Champion at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival for $100,000, then filmed the original cast speaking English and used both sets of footage to infer their facial movements.
- Director Barczewski backed the English-language version, saying he had wanted to film The Champion in English as well but could not afford to do it.
