Plot summary
Jan Bratek is on his way into a television building when an accident puts him in a hospital room, where he is brought back to life. The President of Poland is visiting the building on the same day. In his hallucinations his sixty years pass again, childhood, youth and adulthood, set against the country's postwar history and the political systems that followed one another until democracy. Jan comes from a generation raised in communist Poland, and he spends his life trying to be active. An absurd coincidence, his own lack of ability or the unpredictable course of events always blocks him.
