Plot summary
Nat Harbin is a burglar in Philadelphia. He works with two men, Baylock and Dohmer, and with Gladden, his ward and the daughter of his mentor. A fortune left by a wealthy man goes to Sister Sara, who leads a spiritualist group, and the bequest includes a jeweled necklace. Nat means to steal it. Gladden goes to the estate as a follower of the group and learns where the safe is kept. On the night of the burglary, Nat waits in a parked car near the mansion while the others hide nearby. Two officers walk up and question him, and he says he is stranded until morning.
