Plot summary
Alley Oates is a psychic whose involvement in a grisly child-murder case brings her and her detective partner, Jersey Callum, to a fortress-like mortuary. Chen, who owns the funeral home, is the prime suspect. He says the three mummified corpses are not children but jiangshi, ancient demons held by an age-old curse and placated only with offerings of human flesh, which he has supplied all his life.

- Phyllis Diller's wig fell off by accident while she was trying out looks for the character of Miss Poopinplatz, and director James Cummins encouraged her to play the part without one; she later worked the wigless look into her stand-up act.
- The film shot in Statesville, North Carolina, in 1989 over five weeks, and in December 1989 a botched special effect caused a fire during production.
