Plot summary
Morgan and Shawn reach a cabin in the woods to start a Juneteenth weekend with their friends. On the drive, Lisa, Allison and Dewayne discuss King bringing Nnamdi, Lisa's unfaithful ex. At a gas station, Shanika runs into Clifton, a former schoolmate who says he is joining the group. At the cabin, a ranger disputes their entry before the friends settle in for drinks and games. The lights go out. Searching for the power box, they come across a board game called The Blackening, its pieces matched to their personalities, and a voice tells them it is holding Morgan prisoner. They must win the game, and answer its questions about Black culture, to keep her alive.
