Plot summary
Vincent Damiano runs with a crew of organized criminals, and over them all stands his father, the boss of the family. The men around Vincent are the orphaned souls he took in and raised, the ones he calls his bastard brothers. When someone murders his father, the crew's life comes apart. Vincent and his brothers fix on a name: Rome, the partner who stood at the old man's side. What they hold is an idea of who did it, not proof. They mean to take the business back and make Rome answer, working deliberately rather than in haste, and they settle on a war for their pound of flesh.
