Plot summary
Trevor and Faith, a couple, buy a house together. Cleaning the attic, Trevor opens a chest and finds a staircase inside it, and below that a black magic book. Only he can read it. He studies the book and performs rituals with Faith, then the two attempt a ritual to merge their minds. It goes wrong and Faith dies. Trevor calls the police. Four years later he is in a hospital, judged insane, in the care of Dr. Ek, who has learned about the book and wants it for himself. Much of Trevor's past is gone from his memory, including the magic and Faith's death. Dr. Ek questions him about where the book might be hidden, careful not to reveal what he intends to do with it.

- The Attic Expeditions was originally written as the fourth film in the Witchcraft series; after reading the script, director Jeremy Kasten decided it had far more potential than the Witchcraft films, and he and the producers spent several years alternating between fundraising and filming.
- Jeffrey Combs, attached to the film from very early on, was responsible for bringing Seth Green and many of the other lead actors into the cast, making it one of Green's early roles as he moved on from child acting.
- Toward the end of production, producers had a modern rock soundtrack added in an attempt to sell a soundtrack, over the objections of director Jeremy Kasten; no soundtrack was ever actually released.
