Plot summary
After his 35-year-old brother dies, an artist begins a year-long project: one intuitive abstract painting every day, 365 in all, as a way to work through grief and to share the process with others. The daily work opens new conversations about loss and asks why Western culture addresses grief so poorly. The documentary also looks at how artists across history have used creative work to cope with grief, and at the practice of art therapy. At the end of the year, the 365 paintings are assembled into one large image, ten by twenty feet, standing for a year of grief and meant to keep the conversation going.
