Plot summary
Brodie's mother is institutionalized, and the teenager is sent to Greypoint to live with his Uncle Albert, whose strict Christian household has no place for his love of heavy metal. His cousin David leads the bullying at school, and Brodie's only allies are his friends Dion and Giles. Meeting a fellow metal fan, Zakk, at a record store gives him a second outlet: the band Deathgasm, with Dion and Giles joining. Zakk talks Brodie into hunting down Rikki Daggers, a legendary metal musician, and the pair come away from the abandoned house with a strange album. Hidden inside is the Black Hymn, ancient sheet music capable of summoning demons, and the band plays it.
