Plot summary
Terkel is in the sixth grade, and his best friend Jason carries an iron pipe everywhere. One recess, a man in a green sweater says Terkel sat on a spider, then introduces himself as Gunnar, the school's new substitute teacher. Gunnar takes over the class after the previous teacher, Yvonne, dies. Terkel's parents, Sheila and Leon, marry, and at the reception the bullies Sten and Saki talk Terkel into stealing beer. His short-tempered grand-uncle Stewart Stardust beats them up, and they blame Terkel and pick on him for it. When a classmate gives Terkel a love letter, Sten and Saki tease them, and Terkel denies he could ever love her. The classmate dies, Sten and Saki warm to Terkel, Jason grows distant, and threats start arriving at home and at school.

- Two animators at A. Film, Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen and Thorbjørn Christoffersen, created a short pilot to convince the studio to back the film; it was well received and production began in 2003.
