Plot summary

Ted Kaczynski has lived since 1971 in a remote cabin near Lincoln, Montana, hunting his food and doing without electricity or running water. He is certain that modern technology is destroying the natural world, and he watches the land around his cabin being destroyed. He decides that life in nature has become impossible. At the library he looks up the home address of United Airlines president Percy Wood. He wrecks a neighbor's snowmobile, cuts a power line and damages construction equipment nearby. The jets passing over his home he calls his breaking point, and he works out a plan of revenge.
