Plot summary
Tab Hunter, an actor and singer, became one of Hollywood's leading male stars in the 1950s, and his autobiography of the same name became a best-seller. The documentary draws on that book along with interviews recorded with him and with contemporaries and associates in Los Angeles, New York, Paris and Santa Barbara, and on archival footage of figures from Hollywood's past. Hunter acknowledges in the book that he was gay, and he describes the years he spent in a closet that threatened to come apart, along with the consequences of being different from the image a studio had built for him.
