Plot summary
On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 leaves LaGuardia Airport and flies into a flock of birds, which damages both engines. Captain Chesley Sullenberger decides he cannot reach an airfield in time, and he sets the plane down on the icy Hudson River. All 155 people on board get out alive, and the press and the public treat him as a hero. Sullenberger relives the flight in a nightmare and in waking visions of the plane coming down over the city. A board investigating the landing cites data showing the left engine was still turning and asks why he did not turn back to LaGuardia. Sullenberger and first officer Jeff Skiles insist they had no engine power. His wife Lorrie, at home with their daughters, is worried about him.
