Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Suffer, You Prick (1987)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The film is built on the Hombres G song «Devuélveme a mi chica», which came from a real episode in singer David Summers's life with an ex-girlfriend; apart from invented elements such as the fight with rival band Fiebre Amarilla and the monkey, the story is very real, both emotionally and musically.
- Making the film brought odd problems: Gerardo Ortega, who played the arrogant posh boy Ricky Lacoste, had to have his voice dubbed because of his thick Sevillian accent, and Ringo, the monkey in the film, was calmed with bars of bread and beer.
- The clothes and instruments in the film belonged to the band members themselves and were the same ones they used in real life: the leather jackets they wore in the street, the clarinet, the drums and the guitars were all used by Hombres G behind the camera.
- The film was shot in the real settings the band moved through, including the Parque de las Avenidas, the Menesiano school where David Summers and Javi Molina studied, whose interiors were filmed at three different Madrid schools, and the Bar Rowland, run by Nano, where the band members almost lived.
