Plot summary
Lester Blaine hopes for a leading role in the new play by Myra Hudson, but the playwright turns him down, judging that he does not look like a romantic lead. She meets him again on a train to San Francisco, and he sets out to change her mind by courting her. After a short courtship they marry and live at her home in San Francisco. Myra is a wealthy playwright and heiress who gives part of her inheritance to foundations. She asks her lawyer Steve Kearney to revise her will in Lester's favor, replacing an earlier yearly bequest that would end if he remarried. Lester's former lover, Irene Neves, then appears, and he is unhappy to see her.
