Plot summary
In Chanderi, an old belief holds that a spirit called Stree takes men away during a four-day festival each year. All that is ever found of them are the clothes they had on. To keep her off, residents write O Stree Kal Aana on the walls of their homes, and after ten at night the men stay indoors. Vicky earns his living as a tailor who stitches clothes for women. One day a woman he has never met comes to him with a lehenga she wants made, and he is drawn to her. The woman is rarely seen in Chanderi and goes away for long spells.

- The second schedule of Stree moved to Bhopal because producer Dinesh Vijan wanted the city's mysterious stories; locals told the team about unexplained events, so guidelines were posted in every room of the fort.
- For his role in Stree, Rajkummar Rao was given a sewing machine, and a tailor visited him daily for 20 days to teach him how to sew.
- Stree grew out of the Kannada urban legend Nale Ba, meaning "come tomorrow". Raj & DK turned it into a gender reversal, with a ghost that targets men, who are afraid to go out at night.
- The promotional song "Aao Kabhi Haveli Pe", featuring Kriti Sanon with Rajkummar Rao and Badshah, was filmed but ended up only as background music in Stree.
