Plot summary
Jim has no way out of the red zone after an explosion at a chemical plant sends a toxin into the air and the military seals the town around him. The helicopters that patrol overhead ignore his attempts to flag them down. Survivors camped in a nearby warehouse notice him instead and take him in: Scott, Scott's wife Julie, and Ix, a withdrawn survivor they had already rescued. Ix is cold toward Jim at first, scolding him for eating some of her candy, and she keeps her distance from the others, hiding from them that she has diabetes. News reports say the plant might have kept biological weapons on site, the source of a toxin that makes people into rabid cannibals.
