Plot summary
Shingo is an aging businessman. His son Shuichi and Shuichi's wife Kikuko live in his house, and so does his own daughter Fusako, who has left her husband and moved back home with her children. Shuichi treats Kikuko coldly and keeps another woman, Kinu, who runs a business of her own. Kikuko, in turn, shows her father-in-law an open adoration, and the flattered Shingo tries to act as her cornerstone. Fusako blames her father for the arranged marriage that failed and for favoring Kikuko over her. A secretary at Shingo's company knows of Kinu and helps him look for her.
