Plot summary
The Artinian family has been deaf for three generations. Peter Artinian is deaf and his brother Chris is hearing. Chris and his wife Mari learn that one of their newborn twins cannot hear and begin researching the cochlear implant. Meanwhile Heather, the oldest child of Peter and his wife Nita, starts asking for an implant. The brothers and the grandparents on both sides fall into a bitter argument over deafness, the schooling of the children and implants for young children. Peter and Nita do not want to lose a daughter to the hearing world.
