Plot summary
Benito Mussolini lands in Rome in 2017, disoriented and still believing the year is 1945. He wanders the city reading modern life through a Fascist lens, and no one takes him for the real Duce. A newspaper kiosk run by a couple gives him shelter and the front page that tells him the date. Meanwhile, filmmaker Andrea Canaletti has been fired by the television station MyTV. Watching back the footage he was shooting, he notices Mussolini in the background and goes looking for him, hoping the discovery will win his job back. The two agree to travel across Italy together: Canaletti wants a documentary that will make his name, and Mussolini wants to measure the mood of the Italians.
