Somewhere, Tomorrow (1983) on Netflix

Plot summary

Lori Anderson is a teenager whose father died in a plane crash. Her mother, Betty, is getting on with her life, selling the family horse farm and seeing the local sheriff, but Lori is consumed by grief and anger. She turns to her father's journals, which deal with psychology and metaphysics, for answers about his death. Then a plane goes down carrying Terry Stockton, a man who had come to board his horse, and his best friend, Alec Peiski. Alec survives; Terry does not. Lori finds Terry in the woods and can see and touch him. Believing she is meant to help him, she works with Alec and her father's journals to find out why Terry's spirit has not moved on.
