Plot summary

Guerrillas in Vietnam seize Gabrielle Prescott, a United Nations worker, from an aid plane carrying food and medicine. Her father, the businessman Jameson Prescott, contacts Major Howard Toliver, who runs a juvenile detention center in Los Angeles, and asks him to bring her back. Toliver refuses at first. Six young inmates at the detention center, Butts, Monster, Lopez, Vasquez, Brophy and Lamb, offer to go, and he takes them to Vietnam. The group has three days to find Gabrielle, with one day set aside for training. The prisoners have personal differences to overcome before they can act as a team.
