Plot summary
Curtis Snow deals drugs in the Bluff, a neighborhood on Atlanta's west side, and provides for his two-year-old son. Three college students drive there to buy drugs, one of them holding a camera. Curtis asks them to drive him to his house, then pulls a gun, robs them of their purses and the camera, and makes a quick escape. He recognizes the camera's quality and hands it to his friend Pancho, telling him to keep filming their daily life. Another group of dealers has begun selling near his street, and Curtis and his friends rob them of their supply.

- Producer Chris Knittel mailed a couple of hundred VHS tapes, each carrying a scene from the film, smeared with dirt and blood and sealed in manila envelopes with no return address, to politicians, conservative groups, police stations and media figures.
- Curtis Snow, a real-life Atlanta "robbery boy" and drug dealer, plays a fictionalized version of himself in the film, and its title comes from The Bluff, an Atlanta neighborhood infamous for crime and drug dealing.
- The unauthorized 2015 sequel Snow on tha Bluff 2 starred Snow and Snoop Dogg and was made without permission from Fuzzy Logic Pictures, which sued Snoop Dogg and Trapflix for copyright infringement; in July 2016 a California judge awarded damages and a permanent injunction.
- A fight broke out at the film's Atlanta Film Festival showing because some audience members doubted the authenticity of a scene in which a child puts his hands into a pile of crack cocaine with a razor blade in it.
- After police officers watched part of the film, the Atlanta Police Department contacted the filmmakers as part of its investigation into a string of home invasions.
- Rapper B.o.B. named his 2012 mixtape Fuck 'Em We Ball after a line in Snow on tha Bluff.
- Killer Mike released a 2013 song called "Snowin' in the Bluff" inspired by the film, Gucci Mane references Curtis Snow in "Dope Show" and "Dead Man", Kevin Gates mentions it in "Mexico", and J. Cole named his 2020 single "Snow on tha Bluff" after it.
