Plot summary
Joe Ross works as an engineer for a company that stands to earn millions from a process he invented, and he wants a bonus for it. On an island retreat he meets Jimmy Dell, a wealthy stranger, and Susan Ricci, one of the company's new secretaries. Jimmy asks Joe to deliver a package to his sister in New York, warns him that Mr. Klein, his boss, may not reward him fairly, opens a Swiss bank account for him and brings him to a club requiring membership, where Joe signs a certificate. Jimmy also advises Joe to consult a lawyer and to bring the only copy of the process along.
