Plot summary
Geologists Philip and Betsy Ames die in a cave-in on Gudjara Mountain, where they are searching for a rumored healing earth. Their young daughter Janet survives, and Shaman of the Zambouli people in the African country of Tigora takes her in and gives her the name Sheena. From Shaman the girl learns jungle lore and the habits of its animals, including a telepathic bond with them. In Azan, the capital, King Jabalani's younger brother Prince Otwani schemes with the King's fiancée, Countess Zanda, over the titanium-rich Zambouli land. Shaman has a vision of the King's death and sets out for Azan to warn him, but corrupt police officers arrest her. Reporter Vic Casey and cameraman Fletch Agronsky are in Tigora to cover Otwani.
