Tanya Roberts
Biography
Tanya Roberts was an American actress who started out as a model in television commercials before studying with Lee Strasberg and Uta Hagen at the Actors Studio. She acted off-Broadway in Picnic and Antigone, then made her film debut in The Last Victim (1975) and took roles in Fingers (1978) and Tourist Trap (1979). In 1980 she joined the final season of Charlie's Angels as Julie Rogers, a streetwise fighter. She went on to play Kiri in The Beastmaster (1982) and the title character in Sheena: Queen of the Jungle (1984), a role that earned her a Razzie nomination. In 1985 she appeared as geologist Stacey Sutton in A View to a Kill, a James Bond film that brought her a second Razzie nomination. From 1998 to 2004 she played Midge Pinciotti on That '70s Show. She died in 2021.

Big break
In the summer of 1980, Roberts was picked from roughly 2,000 candidates for the fifth season of Charlie's Angels, taking over from Shelley Hack. She played Julie Rogers, a streetwise fighter who relied on her fists more than her gun.
Early training
While Barry worked as a screenwriter, Roberts started studying at the Actors Studio with Lee Strasberg and Uta Hagen, using the name Tanya Roberts.
A role that slipped away
Roberts declined to continue playing Velda in the Mike Hammer series so she could work on the 1984 film Sheena: Queen of the Jungle.
A change of course
Near the end of the decade, Roberts made reference footage of The Legend of Zelda. Producers used that footage while they created the animated adaptation.
