Plot summary
Tin Lik-hang is a washed-out film director in the middle of several crises at once. His mother has just died, the company he runs is bankrupt and debt-ridden, and his wife wants a divorce. Lik-hang never really got along with his father, and he is now the one who must look after Yat-hung, who is 79 and has dementia. Then Yat-hung starts to shed his skin daily, the way a cicada does, and each shedding leaves him looking about ten years younger. He moves through the ages of 60, 52, 37, 28 and 19, closing in on the age of his own son.
