Plot summary
The Tokugawa shogunate is in decline, and the government in Edo needs money. Spies from Iga Province are sent to bring about the ruin of provincial daimyo who have done nothing to deserve it, and the holdings of the clans that fall are claimed to boost the failing economy of Edo. Three ronin called Shadow Hunters work against this campaign. All three are former samurai. Their fiefs were destroyed and their masters killed, and instead of following those masters into death by seppuku, they have put their combined skill with the sword to work against the government's plunder of the daimyo's resources.
