  • Kevin Greutert said Lionsgate told him a week before filming that Saw VI would be post-converted into 3D; he was upset because he envisioned a 2D film, and the plans were abandoned over time restraints.
  • Early in scripting, someone suggested Costas Mandylor's Detective Hoffman take on the mafia, given his vigilante methods; the idea was quickly dropped as not "feeling Saw enough" and more like The Punisher.
  • VH1's 2008 reality show Scream Queens had ten unknown actresses compete for a role in Saw VI; Tanedra Howard won, playing Simone, a part she reprised in the sequel Saw 3D.
  • Kevin Greutert wanted Cary Elwes to return as Dr. Lawrence Gordon in Saw VI, but Elwes was unavailable; he was later cast in Saw 3D, with a storyline different from the one Greutert had planned.
  • Spain rated Saw VI "PelĂcula X" for extreme violence and limited screenings to eight adult theaters; distributor Buena Vista appealed, and after producers cut the most violent scenes it was released there on October 8, 2010.
  • Kevin Greutert called the "carousel room" the "longest trap scene ever" to that date; ten actors originally rode the carousel, but it was scaled down to six to tie in to the film's title.
