Plot summary
By day Rico repairs cars in East Los Angeles. At night he is a regular at La Luna, a salsa club, where he dances and hopes to be named salsa king in the club's upcoming contest. He is sure that Vicki, his on-and-off girlfriend, will be his partner for it. To get a free hand with his sister Margarita's flirtatious classmate Lola, Rico nudges his best friend Ken, a courteous gentleman, into asking Margarita out. Luna, who owns the club and reigns as its salsa queen, wants Rico as her dance partner, which strains his relationship with Vicki. Rico is enraged when Ken and Margarita become romantically involved.
