Youssef Kerkour
Biography
Youssef Kerkour is a Moroccan-British actor born in Rabat, Morocco, who found his interest in performance during a school trip to Stratford-upon-Avon, where he saw Henry V. He left Morocco for a psychology degree at Bard College in the United States, but his time there centered on dance and acting classes, and a professor urged him to try acting as a career. In 2001 he played the Visitor in a stage version of Steve Martin's Picasso at the Lapin Agile. After moving to England, he trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company for five years. He became best known as Sami Ibrahim, a Syrian asylum seeker in the comedy-drama Home, which ran from 2019 to 2020 and earned him a 2020 British Academy Television Award nomination for Best Male Comedy Performance. He later played Nemir Kirdar in House of Gucci (2021) and appeared in Ridley Scott's Napoleon (2023).
