Virginia Weidler
Biography
Virginia Weidler was an American child actress in Hollywood movies of the 1930s and 1940s. Born in 1927 in the Eagle Rock section of Los Angeles, she first appeared on screen in 1931, and at seven she won her first credited role, Europena in Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch (1934). Roles followed in George Stevens's Laddie (1935) and Souls at Sea (1937). Though signed to Paramount, she was often lent to RKO-Radio Pictures; when that ended, MGM signed her in 1938 and cast her opposite Mickey Rooney in Love Is a Headache (1938). She was the daughter of Norma Shearer's character in The Women (1939) and played Dinah Lord in The Philadelphia Story (1940). She also worked with Clark Gable and Myrna Loy on Too Hot to Handle (1938) and with Bette Davis on All This, and Heaven Too (1940). Her final film was Best Foot Forward (1943); she retired at sixteen with more than forty credits.
