Biography

Valerie Chow is a Hong Kong actress turned fashion publicist and entrepreneur who entered entertainment after placing as a runner-up in the 1991 Miss Hong Kong Pageant. Raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, she worked as a television presenter for the TVB Pearl lifestyle program Eye on Hong Kong in late 1992, and made her film debut with a cameo in He Ain't Heavy, He's My Father in 1993. Her role in Wong Kar-wai's Chungking Express (1994) brought a Hong Kong Film Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, and she went on to play villains in a string of B-movies, including a guest appearance in Tsui Hark's The Blade (1995). She later moved to Hollywood, credited as Rachel Shane, and appeared in Phantoms (1998). Since 2003 she has worked mainly as a fashion publicist, opening the children's clothing store Mama Kid in 2010, and she returned to acting in 2018.
