Tom Clancy

Tom Clancy was an Irish folk singer and actor who was a member of the Clancy Brothers. Born in Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary, he served in the Royal Air Force as a radio operator before touring with a British repertory company and acting in repertory at the Cleveland Playhouse. He and his brothers found work on and off Broadway. In 1959 he joined the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, taking lead vocals on many of their songs and singing with the group until 1976. A reformed line-up followed in 1977; he also joined a reunion tour from 1984 to 1985. His films included The Killer Elite (1975) and Swashbuckler (1976), and his television work included episodes of Starsky and Hutch, The Incredible Hulk, and Little House on the Prairie. In 1974 he returned to Broadway in Eugene O'Neill's A Moon for the Misbegotten, a hit that won three Tony Awards. Tom Clancy died in 1990.
