Tom Chatterton
Biography
Tom Chatterton was an American actor who also worked as a director. Born in Geneva, New York, he gained early acting experience with a stock theater company run by Ben Horning in Syracuse, New York, and later worked with several other stock companies. For three years he played the mayor in a touring production of The Man of the Hour, and he also performed in vaudeville. His film career started in 1913 with the New York Motion Picture Company, working for Thomas H. Ince. Though never a major star, he took leading roles in early silent films and appeared in many westerns. He adapted to sound films, which allowed a career that lasted five decades. He died in 1952.
