Biography

Toby Robins was a Canadian actress who worked in radio, stage, television and film. Born in Toronto, she worked extensively in radio and on the stage in Canada, appearing in many productions from the late 1940s into the 1960s. In 1952 she hosted The Big Revue, CBC Television's first series. At Toronto's Crest Theatre, her roles included the leads in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Dream Girl. From 1957 to 1961 she was an original panelist on the CBC series Front Page Challenge. After moving to London in 1964, she appeared in television shows such as The Saint, Department S and Space: 1999, the latter's two-part story later reissued as Destination Moonbase-Alpha (1978). In 1981 she played the mother of Melina Havelock in the Bond film For Your Eyes Only (1981). She also appeared on London's West End in dramas including The Aspern Papers. She died in 1986.
